19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
